Field Trip to the State Capitol

Last week I went with some of the Downtown YMCA staff to Olympia to advocate for some bills in process of review for the bienneal budget which will be set by July. It was a cool civics experience for me. We were advocating two bills. The first extends Medicare coverage for foster kids until the age of 21 and the second bill will increase the amount of money going to programs like the Rehabiliation Foster program that the Downtown YMCA manages for high needs foster kids. Hopefully our face to face visits with state representatives and senators helps to push these through. The day I went to Olympia was my longest chunk of time away from Evan!
